Sometimes we connect with our innate healing impulse gently, an intuitive hunch, a “gut instinct” or a surprise “aha” insight. Other times are less like a gentle illumination and more like a lightning bolt out of the blue. Radical change may cause cognitive dissonance or chaotic upheaval at first, yet later reveal a pathway to more authentic living. As a Trainer in the Grof Transpersonal Training (and studying with and assisting Stanislav Grof, MD), I worked for 18 years directly facilitating clients who were doing deep work and integration. I have encountered many of the common and uncommon types of experiences possible in non-ordinary states, including those I have had myself with breathwork and shamanism. I might be particularly useful assisting someone with the more unusual situation where a psychedelic experience has triggered a kundalini process which then has become ongoing in ordinary life.
